ThE ReVoLt: Direct Imperial What? NO!!!!!
- Emperor Go-Daigo rewarded his nobles, who didn't
actually fight, instead of the bushi. THis
didn't go over too well with the bushi.
- Emperor Go-Daigo tried to reinstate direct imperial
rule. THis was so unpopular that Ashikag Takauji
rebelled and drove Go-Daigo out of Kyoto, crushing
the Emperor's loyalist armies at Minatogawa.
- Takauji then set up a new Emperor, and was
declared Shogun. THus the Ashikaga Shogunate
was established.
